Day 6 of the Polar Blog Express, Darcy Baldwin, and ballet lessons

Saturday, July 19, 2008

I’ve got a mini album for you! If you visit my blog each day through July 25th, you will be able to download a different page from my 12-page album that matches my “Christmas Charm” kit at Digitals.

You can purchase the matching kit here: Christmas Charm.

Also, I have a sale going on for 30% off! Here’s something that you might be interested in – a fun font that I drew and Darcy Baldwin made into a font for me.

The personal use version is on sale for $1.39

The commercial use / designer use version is on sale for $3.49.

Speaking of Darcy Baldwin, I can finally tell you where she is going!

You can click on over to Sweet Shoppe Designs to shop her products. I think she is a great addition to the store!

There is a chance that I will get to meet her during a layover in an airport this summer (afraid that the layover will be too short, though!), but she is in my top 5 of people I know from the internet that I would like to meet IRL. Totally a sweetheart, and a very interesting and fun person!

Onto the freebie: here’s another page from my 12-page album that matches my “Christmas Charm” kit at Digitals.

Please enjoy my free digital scrapbooking gift for you.

And in other news, DD2 had another ballet lesson this week.

IMG_1476

She has had a total of 3 lessons, all with different teachers. The first class was fine. The second class was horrible. She was tired and made tired, sad faces & postures in the mirror. The teacher that week was sort of a no-nonsense type of teacher and talked to me afterward about “is she like this all the time”? and “maybe she isn’t ready for lessons”. This is her first dance class ever, and I felt like that was a bit harsh. It is a beginning class, after all.

This week’s class, the third class went very well! The teacher she had this week will be the teacher for the rest of the summer, and she seems very sweet and willing to deal with the differing ages and talent levels of the class. DD2 was willing to work hard this week. I think she likes to wear her leotard and dress like a ballerina and look in the mirror – she is having fun and I’m happy about that.

Have a great Saturday! I hope you enjoy my freebie. Come back tomorrow!

I want to learn how to make fonts. I am going to buy a scanner during the next week or two and that will help.
I take ballet as an adult and I don't like overly-strict teachers. It is really not good when they are first starting. If she decides she really wants to dance, when she is older, that would be a different story.

We gave up ballet after a year. I got tired of the diva type attitudes of the staff and teachers. I hope she finds a class that works for all of you!

Thank goodness your DD had a better day with the dance, and has a better teacher than that second one!

I can't believe Darcy's selling at SSD! I saw that this morning in the newsletter, it's awesome! I love her fonts!

Have a great day Juliana!

So glad that the wicked witch of the East is not the permanent dance instructor for your daughter. It is people who does not have the finnese that is needed when our little darlings are attempting a new chapter, especially in the arts. I wish her fun, dedication, joy, and above all the freedome to dance. (My neice has her doctorate in dance from Johns Hopkins University, that also has a school of dance, Peabody. She now teaches and her students love her.) I know this instructor will have the patience and love that all the little darlings, especially your princess, need and expect.

Thanx for another oval page on this 6th day of the Polar Blog Express. It has been interesting and so rewarding as I read your lovely blog. I know you were totally upset with the problems of yesterday, but today your blog is so refreshing and beautiful in appearance with just the right amount of warmth. HUGS!!!

You're daughter is so sweet in her leotard. I hope she continues to have good teachers. My granddaughter takes ballet. She is in her third year and she loves it.
