Love those mini-albums!

Monday, June 30, 2008

I am very into mini-albums lately! Besides the Star Spangled album which I’ll show you later in this post, I’ve also designed the Calm and Cool album this month, and the Dreamscape album. And I’ve used each one of those, too, which means that I’ve gotten a decent amt. of scrapping done! I still, though, have my eye on some albums available around digi-land. Here’s a sampling.

“It’s my party” album by Christy Lyle – you get it for free when you buy the matching kit through July 4th.

Kathryn Estry’s Cute Stuff Abby Album – love the colors!

Lynne Simmon’s Boys will be boys mini-album – I think the colors would be perfect even if it isn’t for a boys’ album!

So here’s the Star Spangled album using the Cosmo Cricket Jack album.

Oh my stars! The colors, glitter and jewels make this album perfect for any celebration. Whether you are scrapping birthdays, military, Independence Day festivities, boys, girls or parades, these pages will make your project shine.

This beautiful album was created by me using the Star Spangled collection by Angela Sharrow. Contains 12 pages, including front and back covers, plus 2 extra jeweled brads. This product fits the Cosmo Cricket Jack Blackboard Album, but can be used in other projects as well.

Here’s what I did the album:

The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Saturday, June 28, 2008

Yesterday was that kind of day! It just was lot of little stuff that added up to a not so great day. I am kind of disappointed that I let it get to me. But I am glad that these kind of days are not all that common, and that I live a pretty good life!

I have a super idea that might result in something wonderful! I am in charge of coordinating the August challenge kit at Digitals. You participate in challenges, and get parts of a megakit for each challenge completed. I need to pick a theme, and would love to get your input!

August is one of those months without any holidays. I think I’ve decided against a school-themed kit as that might be more appropriate for another month (of which I am not in charge!) There is a theme for next month, but I don’t think I can tell that yet. smile_omg

Here are some ideas I’ve thought of:

- Under the sea

- Kids at play

- Mega-Birthday kit

So, here’s a little contest for you – leave me a comment about a theme you would like to see in a mega-kit or tell me why one of my ideas listed above is genius (LOL!), and I will enter you in a contest. The best answer with a new idea will get a $5 coupon code to my store and the best answer agreeing with one of my ideas gets a $5 coupon code to my store. Please leave your comments on this post by Sunday at 12 noon PST, and I’ll make my decisions on Sunday afternoon!

Meanwhile, don’t miss out on the challenges at Digitals this month! I can’t find the mega-kit preview, but here’s the bonus you get when you complete 12 challenges by the end of June! The other pieces of the mega-kit coordinate with it.

Have a great Saturday!

Bridging to Juniors!

Friday, June 27, 2008

First a Brownie…

IMG_1495

Now a Junior Girl Scout!

IMG_1525-1

We had our bridging ceremony this week, and it was a lot of fun. The leaders went out of their way to make it very special.  DD1 got an award that came with a $25 Build a Bear gift card. What a treat! DD2, who is still a Brownie, was awarded some Baskin Robbins GC’s.

I finished up a quick page album that goes with the Cosmo Cricket Jack album. I’ll show you pictures of it probably early next week. It matches Angela Sharrow’s Star Spangled kit.

When it gets in stores, I’ll link you up!

Have a great Friday!

I made a book!

Thursday, June 26, 2008

I used my new CD album – I am getting them printed this week by the printing services at Polka Dot Potato and will glue them to CD’s and make an album out of them. It’s for DH maybe for his birthday – but I really doubt I will wait that long. smile_regular

Here are the pages! I put them on larger canvases for printing – they are a little bit out of order:

12x12 daddys little angels 1

12x12 daddys little angels 2

8x10 daddys little angels 3

I haven’t decided whether or not I will punch a hole through the CD’s with my crop-a-dile and put it on a binder ring, or if I will use my bind-it-all.  I’m afraid of wrecking the layouts either way!

They are made with this CD album:

Which is made from this paper pack:

If you pick up the paper pack or brag book, I would love to see the layouts you make! Be sure to drop me a line if you do.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Wonderful Wednesday – all my kits & quick pages 30% off! And a picture or two.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

First, the picture or two. We have been going to Home Depot workshops and making fun projects! The girls are handier with the hammer that I thought they were. I was helping my older daughter and my younger daughter finished the project without me!

IMG_1363

IMG_1364

We are trying to take advantage of the low cost or free activities this summer – like these workshops, and free kids movies on certain days, and the library. We are also trying not to drive too far if possible. We are doing pretty good so far, but it has only been about a week and a half so far, and the first week, they were at VBS all morning every day, so it’s not really a true judge of what it will be like. But that’s OK! June is practically over – well, in my mind, anyway!

And now, I will tell you about my sale on all my kits and quick pages (brag books, etc. – does not include my templates) at both my store at Digitals and my part of the store at Polka Dot Potato. It’s 30% off my kits (including paper packs) and my brag books made with my kits and paper packs. This includes my latest release. I am looking forward to scrapping with this CD album soon!

It’s a one day sale, just for today, so don’t miss out!

Have a super Wednesday!

Some great news, and a picture

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

I got an e-mail from Scrapbook Dimensions that they would be showing how I used May’s desktop from Scrapbook Dimensions. What a nice compliment! They will be showing it in their online gallery. I’ll link you up when I see it.

I have a picture to share from earlier this month. We went to a paper airplane class/competition a couple of weeks ago and the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!

IMG_1368

DD1 really loved making paper airplanes – I think I might try to pick up a book or gather some instructions online so she can practice it more.

I am currently working on 2 brag books. One to match my new paper pack, and one for the 4th of the July (but I’m trying to keep it versatile!) with Angela Sharrow’s Star Spangled kit.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

New paper pack, and some pictures

Monday, June 23, 2008

First, I’ll show you the paper pack I made this weekend. I am loving these colors and patterns.

JGordon_Calm_and_Cool_Preview-500

The colors in this paper pack are reminiscent of a calm and cool summer evening. Perfect for heritage pages, family memories, or an "all about me" page, you will love scrapping with these papers.

This paper pack includes a solid paper in 4 colors, a damask paper in 2 colors, and 2 other patterned papers.

As always, my products are available for scrap for hire at no additional cost. See my terms of use for more details.

They are only available at Digitals for now, but I will add it in at Polka Dot Potato soon.

So, the pictures I have to share with you today are of my daughter. She started ballet lessons last week. I think she is in love with looking in the mirror in the studio, and the ballet outfit that she gets to wear. I am not allowed to take pictures in the studio (drat!), so I took some earlier in the week.

IMG_1469  IMG_1477

These pictures are fairly serious for her, but she also looks a little more grown up!

Today is work, work, work! I am hoping to get a lot done today at my day job. Normally I would be in newsletter writing time, but I did a summer issue, so I’m all set till sometime in August. So I can spend some time planning ahead and getting some ideas of what we are going to do in the fall.

Have a super Monday!

A new brag book from me!

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Guess what’s in store now?

This little beauty was made by me using the Angela Sharrow’s Dreamscape Collection. This set is perfect for masculine or feminine pages, heritage, birthdays, anything really. It is 14 pages including front & back covers. It is 30% off through the end of June.

Available at these stores:
ACOT
Digitals
ScrapDish

You can take a look at the brag book I made with it here. I gave it to my dad, my husband, and my MIL – just changed the covers – and it was totally perfect.

I have breakfast with a friend and then a date with my husband while the kids are at VBS. Fun day!

Have a great Thursday!

The sale is only on for today! Go check it out!

How many times can a mom watch…

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

…the same episode of “Fetch with Ruff Ruffman”? We have it on the DVR, and I think we are watching the first season finale for the 4th time this week. They seem to come out with one season a year, so I’ve seen all of them many times…sigh. In very exciting “Fetch” news, they will have a new season in September. I know these things, because it’s what’s important around here! smile_wink

Here’s another layout I made this month:

400dbaldwin-balint-lo_copy

Julie is my nickname to many, although many of you know me as Juliana!

I used Kathryn & Velma Balint's Social Butterfly from KB and Friends as well as Darcy Baldwin's Inspired by Templates from the digichick. The journaling font is Juliana in a Hurry, a custom font by Darcy Baldwin. I'm not sure of the title font, sorry!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Hello, Monday!

Monday, June 16, 2008

We are participating in another church’s VBS this week. The kids are so looking forward to it! It’s a great way to start the summer – it’s not quite school, and I get a little bit of time at home by myself – a rare commodity during this time of year!

Here’s another layout to share with you.

dbaldwin_scrapartist_collab_lo_400copy

My kids just love to have fun! These are pictures from several different years.

I used Kathryn Balint's and Laurie Anderson's portions of the June 2008 Scrapartist kit, Garden Party. The layout is made from a template, modified, by Darcy Baldwin, from her "Inspired by Templates" pack at thedigichick.  The fonts are CK Mou Saha and Kimberly Geswein's Love Ya Like a Sister.

So, here’s my question for you…what are your plans this summer? Do you already find yourself scrapping less? Blogging less? Sleeping more? smile_wink It’s definitely a transition, but I am determined to have a super summer!

Have a great Monday!

A lazy Sunday…

Sunday, June 15, 2008

I don’t get a lot of those! I usually go to church on Sunday… being a pastor’s wife, that’s where you’d expect me! But DD#2 has been sick the past few days, and I just want to make sure her tummy is all the way better before handing her off to the children’s ministry at church. I’m sure they appreciate that! But I will miss going to church today.

I’ve been working this weekend on a yummy looking kit that should be in the store in the next week. Think chocolate & berries – it’s a color scheme I fell in love with when I saw it on a swatch site. Scrumptious!

If you have a guy in your life that needs Dockers pants or accessories (not shoes…bummer!), Sears is having a great deal. Buy $100 worth of Dockers and get a $75 gift card to Shell Gas by mail. You can get the details here. We used a gift card we forgot he had, and a couple of coupons we had for Sears, and ended up paying $65 for four pairs of Dockers and will get the gas card later this summer. He really needed the pants, so this was a fabulous deal for us!

Today is my last day for my 40% off sale at my store at Digitals & my part of the store at Polka Dot Potato! Everyone has been so welcoming at Digitals (and understanding as I learn the ropes at a new store smile_regular) – I really love the stores I’m at!  Don’t miss out on the great deals!

I thought I would show you a layout I made this month – I’ve made 3 that I haven’t shared with you yet, that I’ll show you this week. Here’s the first one:

scrapartist_collab_lo_copy400

This photo just begged to be scrapped! I took it last month and just couldn’t wait to scrap it!

I used Kathryn Balint's and Laurie Anderson's portions of the June 2008 Scrapartist kit, Garden Party. I also use Dianne Rigdon's "Letters from the Patio" alpha from Scrapbookgraphics.

The layout is made from a template, modified, by Darcy Baldwin, from her "Inspired by Templates" pack.

Have a great Sunday, and if it applies to you, have a super Father’s Day!

And now, back to our regularly scheduled blogging...

Friday, June 13, 2008

Well, I didn't know how busy I would be that last week of school. Lots of details to wrap up with my kids and their teachers (one of the girls' teachers was retiring!) and mega-super big class parties at the end of the year. Fun, fun!

Their last day of school was Tuesday, and class parties were Wednesday. Wednesday night, DD#2 started throwing up. I started Thursday morning, and even the dog joined in. DD#1 and DH avoided getting sick, although DD#1 took an uncharacteristic 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon. Poor gal. The school year just wore here out!

Because they both fell asleep during the day yesterday, they though they had full nights' sleep and that it was a new day. DD#1 thought it was Saturday because she had fallen asleep 2 or 3 times during the day!

Everyone is feeling better today. We are probably going to do some grocery shopping pretty soon. DH might be home for most of the day - he is a pastor and goes to all the graduations he can during this time of the year. I think he went to 4 or 5 this year, and would have gone to one more tonight, but it is a ticketed graduation. It's nice that he can share in the celebrations with these young people, but I'm glad to have him home tonight.

So, here's a friendly reminder to shop my sale before it ends on Sunday! It's 40% off at my store at Digitals and my part of the store at Polka Dot Potato. Prices are as marked.

I'll leave you with some layouts - the brag book that I am giving my husband and my dad for Father's Day. Mom, don't show Dad!

fathers_day_7 copy fathers_day_8

fathers_day_9 fathers_day_10

fathers_day_11 fathers_day_12

fathers_day_13 fathers_day_14

This is made with Angela Sharrow's Dreamscape kit - it is a brag book that I designed for her, and it should be in the stores soon. I think it is a good gender-neutral brag book that you can use all year around. I'll link you up when it gets in the stores!

I'm changing the front cover and sending a copy to my MIL, who now lives a few states away. I love digital and being able to do that! I am going to bind these with my bind-it-all machine. BTW, I found an excellent seller for the coils - I wish I would have bought my machine from her. I get them off of eBay from this seller: princessleiaorgana They arrive very quickly and she always seems to have a good variety of the coils.

Well, I need to make a shopping list and get going! Have a super day!

40% off my whole store! Wow!

Sunday, June 8, 2008

If you are a digiscrapper, you'll want to stop by my part of the store at Polka Dot Potato or my store at Digitals. In honor of 1 year of designing, I have taken 40% off of all my products! The sale prices are marked in the stores, and the sale runs through Sunday, June 15th.

I lowered the regular price of my big template packs to $9.99, so you can pick up those up for $5.99 each!

For you designers out there, or anyone who wants to make a brag book, how about these templates? Only $4.05!

Or what about the brag book / kit bundle I released last week? Just $2.39!

Have a great day!

Water fun

Friday, June 6, 2008

Today our school is having this waterslide:

waterslide

Um, wow?! I am bringing my swimsuit, too, so I might go down it with our kids if they want me too. If it's allowed, too - I'm not sure. I saw this video:

(which is actually a sales video, but you get to see it in action), and it seems like it will be fun. I'm not sure the girls will do it, but they have tamer waterslides for those who don't want to tackle the huge one.

I have to finish clearing off my CF cards so I can take lots of pictures! Have a great Friday, everyone!

Works for me Wednesday

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Today's Works for me Wednesday is a themed edition. The theme? "Mom, I'm bored". Totally appropriate for this time of year, although my kiddos aren't out of school quite yet. (We end one week from now, and start the day after Labor Day).

So, I'll keep it simple and not try to impress you with some idea that makes me look like Supermom smile_regular. I'm just your average, everyday Mom who would like to keep the family sane this summer.

We are working on a project this summer, and that is to get ready for a yard sale in the fall. They are excited about the idea of earning money (after we pay for the permit that the city requires us to purchase), and I am excited about the idea of them voluntarily cleaning out their toys and books.

Right now we are gathering them in bags, but I plan on finding an appropriate box that we can just toss things in as we find them.

And that works for me!

----

Also, what's working for me...the Blogger scheduled post feature! I have been away the past couple of days, but I wrote up a few posts on Sunday, and Blogger kept posting them for me. Nice.

I'll be back tomorrow. Have a great Wednesday!

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

A layout to share with you

Sunday, June 1, 2008

As you may have heard, Kathryn Balint is collaborating with the Scrapartist designers this month and made this beautiful kit. It's only available for the month of June.

Garden Party by Kathryn Balint & the Scrapartist Designers

Isn't it beautiful? I got a chance to work with Kathryn's & Laurie Anderson's portions of the kit, and I made this layout.

2008-05-awana-girls-lo-copy

The girls really enjoyed Awana this year. This was taken at their awards night.

I'm going to make it a short post for today! Hope you have a super Sunday!
